A Year of Yarns

While nothing can begin to replace the cozy feeling of "book in hand", we know just how expensive they can be.

We have also realized not everyone has immediate access to their local library and, in some cases, access to a school library where bringing home books is allowed.  This is...

Why we do what we do!

A Year of Yarns was created to help children and their families avoid the potential monotony and boredom that comes from reading the same books night after night, not to mention the expense of maintaining a good home library.

Most people, however, do have access to the internet.

This website is not meant to replace books by any means.  It is simply here to enhance your child's personal collection of stories, tales, informational tidbits, and other activities such as cooking & crafts.

A Year of Yarns is a FREE website that will always remain FREE.

In our opinion, it is important (and quite imperative) children do not get bored from reading the same books over and over.  We strive to bring children something different to experience every single day of the year.

We believe children deserve to have access to free "books" and fun stories despite any geographical or financial obstacles.

We are not here to collect e-mail addresses, sell memberships or limit access to certain features.

Everything on this website is free to everyone and anyone who visits it.

We believe children and their families should spend quality time together every single day...even if it is for a mere five minutes while you read your "Daily Yarn."  Many of our stories and activities were purposely designed and written for adult & child interaction.

It is important our future generation has a fighting chance to live happy, productive lives...from childhood and far into adulthood.

Study after study has shown the major benefits daily reading, creative writing, and stretching your imagination has on a person's happiness, well-being, & overall health.  Just think of how beneficial creative & critical thinking outlets are to a young brain eager for knowledge, information, and wisdom.

 Anything truly is possible!

If you also believe in the power of reading and would like to support our cause, please visit our Show of Support page for more information.  Or, you can simply help us by telling everyone you know about A Year of Yarns.

Thank you very much for visiting our website.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Sincerely,

Sara Smith & The Team at A Year of Yarns
